Job Title: Volunteer Coordinator
Hours:
Non-exempt position, 30 hours a week, occasional weekends and evenings for
volunteer orientations and special events
Reports to: Executive Director
Qualifications
- Experience with supervision and/or volunteer
management
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Excellent computer skills with experience with
Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently, multi-task and work
well under pressure
- Self-motivated and able to manage time
- Highly organized and detail orientated
- Experience coaching and/or training people
- Creative, flexible, and open to new ideas
- Public relations/marketing skills desirable
- Horse experience preferred, but not required
Responsibilities
- Develop, coordinate and supervise agency’s volunteer
program
- Responsible for recruitment, consultation, training,
and scheduling of volunteers mainly for therapeutic riding classes but for
other areas as needed (special events, office help, facility maintenance,
special projects)
- Plan, schedule and facilitate monthly volunteer
orientations
- Assess volunteers’ strengths and place volunteers in
functions accordingly
- Work closely with staff and instructors to assure that
volunteer placements are successful
- Maintain agency system for tracking volunteer hours
and ensure data entry/documentation
- Coordinate yearly volunteer recognition event and
continue to evaluate volunteer incentives and motivation strategies to
increase retention of volunteers
- Develop and maintain a volunteer information packet
and other print materials as needed
- Conduct a volunteer satisfaction survey once a year;
solicit feedback during and after volunteers’ service
- May be asked to assist in classes when a substitute
can not be arranged
- Maintain and oversee the Volunteer Room
- Prepare name buttons for each volunteer
- Contribute to newsletters and assist with mailings
- Establish procedures and coordinate volunteers for
annual fundraising event, including registration and auction check out.
- Other duties as assigned
