Economic Impact Survey of Nonprofits in the Pikes Peak Region

Nonprofits make an enormous impact on our community! In September 2012, CNE in partnership with Summit Economics and UCCS School of Public Affairs, launched an economic impact survey of nonprofits in the Pikes Peak region. This was the first comprehensive study of its kind in our region in 10 years. Our community leaders, both civic and business, make decisions with widespread implications for our quality of life and this survey will help inform them. It will also act as a tool for our nonprofit community- laying out our total employment, expenditure and revenues, and overall fiscal impact.

SOME IMPORTANT FINDINGS:
• In 2011, $3.1 billion in revenues was generated by the nonprofit sector - an over 80% was new money to the region
• The Nonprofit Sector in the Pikes Peak region employed close to 17,000 jobs in 2011
• One in every 14 civilian workers in the region was employed by a nonprofit organization
• $92 million in taxes were paid by employees in the sector
